I use my receiver with a Harman Kardon HKTS-11 5.1 speaker system....I kid you not this system still has the ability to make me grin like a kid when watching action movies, an extremely loud and powerful combination.I have decided that I would really like to move with the times and get something with a dedicated iPhone connection and HDMI capability and so with great trepidation and after reading 90 Gazillion reviews bought myself an STR-DH820, I kept my DE845 under the bed as I could not honestly believe that the 820 could match it at this price range, I mean honestly....all that tech for just �250.00? something must have been sacrificed somewhere right? well if it was I am not sure where because this receiver is amazing and even though I only unboxed it yesterday (Yes I am one of those people that will sit playing with new... The setup is complex and cannot be done without the handbook that comes with the receiver, hence losing a star. Now it is setup though it is certainly a 5 star system. I love it, but I'm not sure the neighbours will.One thing to note is that I need 2 cables to my TV to get sound out of it (as my TV does not have ARC - audio return channel, via HDMI). The 2 cables I need are; 1. HDMI, to carry video 2. Optical cable, to carry the audio (if the TV has ARC you do not need this cable) - bought one of these on Amazon for less than �5. I love it! It's just the setup I didn't love. |
